GATE – Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering is a very important examination being conducted by the prestigious institutions Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) every year Hindi month of February. This examination score is taken by various prestigious national and international universities for shortlisting candidates for admission into them.

What is GATE ? How is it relevant and important to me?

The first question that comes into relevant graduate is that why should I write GATE? What is its importance? How a good score in GATE is going to help me? Here, we try to analyse what is GATE and why it is relevant to us for our career growth.

After completion of graduation in Engineering / Technology/ Architecture or any other subject the main object for everybody is to look for the proper forward career path. GATE examination, while studying in the final year of the course itself. GATE is a gateway for opportunities for higher studies and also for various jobs in government public sector units.

Opportunities

Many public sector units in India shortlist the candidates for further selection process of appointment in various positions relevant to the subject of study in graduation. This is an excellent opportunity for the graduate engineers to write a single examination and get qualified for getting shortlisted for further process of selection in government, public sector units, instead of appearing for various examinations. This examination also paves way for higher studies, such as master degree and doctoral programmes. GATE exam by itself is not confined to only Engineering candidates. The exam is conducted in different subjects keeping opportunities open to all the eligible candidates from sciences, humanities branches also as per their eligibility criteria given the GATE examination brochure. Thus the gate of opportunities will be open for young graduates and post graduates with this examination.
